Summary

The Nawaya Network develops the income-generating skills of youth from low-income backgrounds via entrepreneurship, employment, and economic development programs. We offer technical training, soft skills training, mentorship, coaching, funding, internships, and job matching. Over the past 11 years, we have supported over 13,000 youth. The funds raised here will allow us to cover costs that donor partners do not cover, to allow our programs to continue to run smoothly.

Challenge

With the current economic and financial collapse of Lebanon, tens of thousands have lost their jobs. Over half the population is now said to be in poverty. Youth are desperate to leave the country. Those who can't are left vulnerable to exploitation, depression, drug use, violence, and even suicide. Youth have become a marginalized and vulnerable segment of society, and we urgently need to engage them in programs that will re-build their skills and guide them towards promising paths.

Solution

Our organization aims to fill this gap, answering the needs of thousands of ambitious youth from low-income backgrounds throughout Lebanon through three main programs: 1) Entrepreneurship program which trains youth on how to start a small business, 2) Employment program which upskills youth in technical and soft skills and helps find them employment, 3) Coding bootcamp that develops the technical and employability skills of youth and turns them into web developers 4) Start-up and SME support

Long-Term Impact

These programs will allow youth to lead more productive lives, generating income for themselves and their families during this crisis. Young women will be empowered in their household and will raise their children along the same lines, and will become more career-oriented; young men will work in more meaningful, non-exploitative sectors, and will be less likely to get involved in crime, violence, and drugs. Unemployed youth will finally have options, and won't turn to desperate measures.
