Maria, coming from the war-torn city of Bucha in Ukraine, took refuge in Türkiye after escaping from the severe bombings in her country. Maria, hiding in shelters in Bucha with her daughter for about three weeks, entered Türkiye legally with her daughter by bus.
Maria, who had to leave her country with the outbreak of the war between Ukraine and Russia, came to Türkiye with her daughter and settled next to her sister. Maria described the frightening moments she experienced by stating that she had to save her daughter from the violent bombings in Ukraine.
Arriving in Türkiye, Maria applied for International Protection. Maria and her daughter, whose application was accepted, currently live in Türkiye with her sister. Seeking help in this process, Maria applied to the Association for Social Development and Aid Mobilization (ASAM) through a poster she saw during her visit to the Consulate. ASAM met Maria's urgent needs by giving her 2 Assistance Cards. Additionally, Maria was given detailed information about the institution by ASAM officials. She stated that she participated in facilitating workshops and activities with her daughter.
Maria stated that this safe haven offered to them was very valuable and that they had the hope of establishing a new life here. ASAM continues to lend a helping hand without discrimination in these difficult times.
