Between 2020 & 2023 your support empowered, kept safe, & restored dignity to 780 vulnerable girls at risk of Female Genital Mutilation/ Child Marriage/ affected by Sexual Violence & exploitation/Poverty in Kuria, rural Kenya by providing them with critical basic needs, training & skills. In turn, they now have a chance at basic education & a reduced risk of being subjected to Female Genital Mutilation, child marriage, teen pregnancies, & exposure to public humiliation and sexual exploitation.

Challenge

We work in the Kuria Community in rural, Kenya to End Female Genital Mutilation(FGM) by supporting access to healthcare, education & justice for the most vulnerable girls & women. Right now 80% of girls are subjected to FGM as an honour to their family and more than 50% married off as children. Your support will keep safe, restore dignity, & keep in school an additional 1220 vulnerable girls, reducing their risk of FGM, while sustainably supporting the initial 780 girls to complete school.

Solution

Our project aims to empower 1220 girls impacted by violence & poverty over three years. By providing school uniforms, shoes, and menstrual care, we increase their access to education and healthcare. Moreover, we offer skills training to enhance their prospects, fostering a cycle of knowledge sharing and empowerment. Through economic development training for mothers and caregivers, we bolster their financial stability and advocate for social justice, creating a stronger support network for girls

Long-Term Impact

By end of 2027 we will directly support 2000 vulnerable girls with safe menstrual healthcare & regular attendance school, preventing Female Genital Mutilation or child marriage. We also train 500 caregivers in agriculture and entrepreneurship, linking them to microfinance opportunities that will help them rise out of poverty. The women will also be taught to share their new knowledge with their neighbours, making sure the changes made through this project are sustainable.
