LYWA plans to empower women and and young mothers by training them in piggery for those that live in poorest villages and provide each with 3pigs to start up her own business.
Women in Lwengo District stay home to look after their children. Most of them are young mothers below 18years and widows they acquired little or no education. Instead of providing basic needs to them LYWA will provide training to them , purchase 3 pigs and construct pig pens for each to make them economically empowered.
We train women and young mothers in poor villages to build pig pens. The training includes pen construction, pig selection farrowing, processing new litter, treating sick animals, weaning , breeding feeding, breed selections , record keeping. Sanitation and ventilation. It also includes skills such as care, herds management, marketing, financial management. By learning these skills the women generate income and improve the standard of living.
The project will educate 50 young mothers and women helping them improve their standards, provide basic needs to their families and empowered as women. Economically empowered women will invest 90% of their to their families, ensuring that their children are well fed, clothed, sheltered and able to get the education they need to break free from the cycle of poverty.
