Nigeria is among the top source countries for human trafficking, with thousands of women and girls exploited yearly. Survivors often lack education, skills, or resources to rebuild their lives, leaving them vulnerable to re-exploitation. This project will train 90 survivors in tailoring, provide transport stipends, supply sewing machines after graduation, and cover shop rent to help them start independent businesses. The project creates a pathway for stability, income, and dignity.
Human trafficking remains a major crisis in Nigeria, with thousands of women and girls forced into sexual exploitation each year. Survivors often return with trauma, stigma, and no financial resources. Many lack education or employable skills, making them vulnerable to re-trafficking. With limited access to vocational training or start-up support, survivors are trapped in cycles of poverty and exploitation. Without practical interventions, their recovery and independence are nearly impossible.
This project will give survivors tailoring skills, transport stipends to attend training, sewing machines upon graduation, and shop rent support to start their businesses. Training creates employable skills, while equipment and rent remove barriers to starting work. By reducing financial dependency and providing income sources, survivors can rebuild their lives with stability. The model combines immediate relief with long-term self-reliance, preventing further exploitation.
Graduates will gain stable income through tailoring businesses, reducing their vulnerability to traffickers. They will also become role models in their communities, showing that recovery and independence are possible after exploitation. As survivors secure livelihoods, they can support their families, educate their children, and reduce cycles of poverty. The project will strengthen social reintegration and contribute to safer communities by reducing the risk of re-trafficking.
