The first quarter of 2026 has been a busy one! The center where the children live for the after-school and weekend sports program now has six young ladies who live there permanently. Each afternoon our team has partnered with a local school to use their soccer fields to teach soccer and then the children are brought back to the center for food and community building.
On the weekends 20 of the youth are picked up in local villages and brought to the center for more intense soccer training, but also for life skills classes and additional mentoring. The team cooks meals together, and the children all have chores they are responsible for around the center. On Sundays there is a time of sharing and their families are invited to see what they are learning and also maintain a sense of community and family.
In late February, a local international school brought a group of 20 kids to work with and play soccer with not only the children at the center but also from the surrounding community. It's so great to see others who have a heart for these kids and just want to have fun and teach them skills.
We are gearing up for our month-long soccer training camp in April, so next quarter will be just as busy!
