This campaign aims to build a music school designed by the community of Birongo in 2021 through a participatory design workshop. Together, we can sow the seeds of hope and nourish the roots of their musical and cultural legacy, ensuring it thrives for generations to come. Birongo, nestled in Venezuela's northern region, battles formidable adversities - a harsh backdrop of violence, teenage pregnancies, insidious drug influences, and an overwhelming lack of motivation.
Birongo, a place of breathtaking cultural richness and wild and beautiful landscape, despite being only 2 hours from Caracas, it is isolated and forgotten. Is also a community facing daunting obstacles. Unemployment, violence, drugs, teenage pregnancy, and illiteracy threaten their livelihoods. Moreover, their exquisite cultural heritage has been slowly lost over the years.
Building a music school led by Las Estrellas de Birongo, a music group established in 2019, that has been forking this space for over 5 years in their community is the ideal solution to address their problems. By providing a dedicated space for learning and musical growth, we are offering young people an invaluable opportunity to develop their talents and skills to keep them away from violence. Music also fosters connection, promoting respect and understanding among individuals.
Supporting this cause will not only help propel the individual development of these talented individuals but also contribute to shaping future leaders and agents of change in their community.
