The First Photography Exhibition

Shah & Kuf

Shaihidin (Shah) is 16 years old in 8th grade. Kuflidin (Kuf) is 17 years old in 9th grade. They are refugees fleeing with their familiy to Kyrgyzstan from Tajikistan. They are brothers and have 9 family members, including parents and 5 brothers and sisters. Due to the limited of living space, both Shah and Kuf have to live in a boarding school in Jany-Jol, Kyrgyzstan. They return home during summers and holiday vacations only.

“Both Shah and Kuf are good and responsible boys with different characteristics. Shah has a delightful personality and always has a pleasant smile on his face and Kuf is a serious person and becomes enthusiastic about photography after joining our class. They love to help each other and support the team work all the time. Through the learning from the course, they have built self-confidence and are looking forward to exploring their own potential to make success in any possible career in the future.”

TFCF Family Meeting in Bishkek

It’s almost been a year and children have done many good works in the class. Definitely, we love to invite more people to view their photograph and see the growth of children after a year. We organized the first and the best exhibition of our children works collection at TFCF Family Meeting in Bishkek on October 22, 2016. Every year, we invite all of our assisted families and have a big gathering in Bishkek. There were more than 1000 people joining the family meeting this year and they saw the photograph exhibition during the break in the hall. Every photographer stood in front of their works and shared their own experience with all guests. I believe all people would find children’s excellence through their works.

Joint exhibition with a boarding school by local government

Since our first exhibition, we have always strived to find more opportunities for our children. Give the Lord glory and praise! Finally, we joined the academy of art exhibition at a boarding school which was organized by the local government from November 14 to 21, 2016. Most of children participated and prepared all work by themselves. It was a good opportunity to develop and enhance children’s organizational skills and team work collaboration.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

As you know, our goal is to help disadvantaged children and realize their potential to re-build their self-confidence even they are living in poverty currently. We believe even on a small scale, these two exhibitions presented the project outcome and showed the excellence of children. The great experience and memories will be the best Christmas gifts to all participated children.

We would like to thank you for all your help throughout the year. With your most generous donations, we make children’s dream come truth and they are encouraged to move further next year. We will keep finding more opportunities of exhibition for children and rich our programs to help children grow. We are proud of them and thank you for providing the opportunity for them!

The Power of Change!

Zuliha's works sharing

Zuliha, 15 years old, lives with her mother and two siblings, and joined our class in September 2015.

“When my husband died in 2007, I had no idea what to do with my three children and worried about being a single mother. My oldest daughter, Zuliha, is an introvert and likes drawing alone. I found she was very excited about the class after she joined the photograph program. I believe she found that the excitement, interest, and enthusiasm towards learning were the primary components of motivation. I was surprised whenever she was talking about photographs. What is more, she has become a volunteer in TFCF and enjoys participating in TFCF activities always. She is my big girl now and always takes care of her younger sister and brother. She behaves as a good role model in front of siblings, and I'm so grateful for that change in her life.”

What children learned

In order to capture movement in photography, we organize Shutter Speed Exercise and all children can begin to drastically improve their photography. Children may use a quicker shutter speed, so they can experience to freeze the action/movement in front of them. It's designed to be used with moving subjects, so they are able to capture cars at the go-kart track. We hope to increase their chances of capturing a sharp action shot through on-track karting photography. Children were excited about capturing motion in photography class.

Family photobook creation

We encouraged children to make a family photobook and recorded their family history, stories, memories through photos and text. This is one of our big programs of project,Empower Disadvantaged Children through Photograph, and our social workers invited families to participate in this program and accept the interview with children. Through the support from the group of student volunteers, children learned the interview and communication skills. We’ve observed children’s changes during the family photobook creation program and they were doing it very well. Now, we are looking forward to seeing the great output of their works by the end of the program.

Long way to go

It’s been 9 months since we’ve activated this project. Although there are only 10 donors joining our project currently, we are grateful to have one recurring donor with us. All of you are very important to our children and we greatly appreciate your support and your helpful comments if any. With your generous donation, we will keep moving forward and I believe you will accompany us to achieve our goal.

Make Children Smile!

Light Painting

"Hey look! I can do it too!"

I was so happy to hear from our children when they upgraded their photography skills of light painting. I know they are very much enjoying learning and expanding their skills in all areas of photography. Through a series of stages, they learn in collaboration with others to discuss and find out the solutions to problems. It’s so touching to see children working so hard with such a huge smile on their face!

Volunteer Photography Teachers

We're thankful for the local volunteer photography teachers who support us and provide the training program for our children in the class. They not only improve children’s photography skills, but also accompany children through the period of the class. When the volunteers show the love to unprivileged children, we believe children will develop caring attitudes and learn how to help people afterwards.

What children learned

Children took part in two practical outings where we shot portraits, landscapes, nightscapes and learned creative photography. We’ve organized several team-building activities through fun and constructive ways to help children get to know each other, build trust, and learn to work together.

All children love the light painting. They surely love the self-images they made through creative challenges. With the assistance of teachers, children learned how to capture the beauty of Lake Issyk-Kul along with TFCF photography class. With your donation, we are able to keep children smiling and they will realize their potential and explore own abilities.

What still behind

We’ve recorded their works and hope to organize a photo exhibition for children by the end of this year. We would like to invite you and more people to support and participate in our project.
