An Effective MHM program for High School Girls
Earlier this year BARKA's Menstrual Health (MH) project leaders completed its MH program in Fada N'Gourma to sensitize high school girls about Menstrual Hygiene. They also distributed locally produced reusable sanitary pads made with locally grown cotton to 2000 girls.
The theme of this year's MH Day invites us to mobilize to develop a "#periodfriendlyworld", a world in which menstruation is no longer a taboo or impediment to girls' education, a world in which everyone can easily have access to information on menstrual hygiene, hygiene products and infrastructure adapted to their needs. This has always been BARKA Foundation's mandate with its MH programs.
In addition to BARKA's own MH programming, we also continued our work with Burkina's Menstrual Hygiene NGO Coalition (of which BARKA is a founding member) to organize the national celebration for MH Day in Ziniaré on May 28. The day was a great success.
Schools in Burkina Faso are already on break, but BARKA is planning its next MH program to sensitize even more girls in the 2024-25 school year. Thank you for helping this to be a reality. Your support makes it all possible.
