Greetings from Mozambique!
With the secondary school girls clubs, MSLI's mentors have been busy facilitating activities for the students in the bi-weekly meetings. With end-of-year exams approaching in November, the mentors are helping the students prepare and study the key subjects they will need to pass at the end of the year. This includes organizing study groups so that students can do homework together, often with the support of a lead student who has better understanding of the material.
The mentors have also procured the exam papers from previous years so that they can conduct practice tests with the students. This gives the students the chance to get used to the exam format and to practice similar types of questions. In this way, our mentorship program is complementary to their secondary school studies and we hope this will promote better exam results at the end of the year. We aim to see more students than ever pass this year, and a holistic approach is necessary to make that happen.
Each day that the students in this program go to school, they have the support of school lunch, tablets to help them study, and organized sessions that focus on difficult material. Our goal is to help bridge the achievement gap for students from rural communities. Your support makes it possible for them to focus on their studies and pave the way for a better future -- thank you!
