Breaking Barriers to Education in Rural Ethiopia

In 2024, the Genanaw Foundation took bold steps to expand educational access in Gulo, Ethiopia, ensuring that more children can learn, grow, and thrive. Through our efforts, we:

• Expanded Genet Miriam School to include grades 7-8, preventing students from dropping out due to lack of access.
• Provided essential school supplies to 360 students, ensuring they have the tools needed to succeed.
• Distributed eco-friendly feminine hygiene kits to 50+ girls, paired with critical menstrual health education by certified female instructors to boost attendance and confidence.
  Installed a power generator, bringing reliable electricity to classrooms for the first time.

Looking Ahead: The Power of Digital Access

While we've made incredible progress, the digital divide remains a significant challenge for students in rural Ethiopia. That’s why our next goal is to establish a computer lab at Genet Miriam School—giving children access to the digital skills they need to compete in the modern world.
