Summary

This project aims to empower 300 low-income women in Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina by providing business training, microloans, and personalized mentorship to help them launch and grow small enterprises. In a region where nearly 60% of the population lives in poverty and women face systemic barriers to economic participation, we equip participants with the tools to achieve financial independence and break the cycle of poverty.

Challenge

In 2024, 59.7% of Greater Buenos Aires' population lives below the poverty line, with women disproportionately affected. The region faces a severe economic crisis, marked by a 193% year-on-year inflation rate in October 2024, exacerbating existing inequalities. Consequently, 39.3% of women are engaged in informal employment, lacking access to essential benefits like social security, which heightens their vulnerability. Additionally, systemic barriers limit women's access to education and health.

Solution

We empower women by providing business training and microloans to launch small enterprises. Training covers essential skills like financial management, marketing, and business planning, while microloans are used for projects such as sewing clothes, baking goods, opening convenience stores, or crafting handmade items. Our staff offer tailored guidance and mentorship, helping women create sustainable businesses. Participants gain financial independence, lift their families out of poverty.

Long-Term Impact

This project will empower 300 women with the skills and resources to start and grow their own businesses, creating a ripple effect of positive change. Over the past 25 years, we have seen how women who join our program transform not only their own lives but also their families and communities. Within their homes, these women lift their families out of poverty, ensure better nutrition and healthcare, and prioritize education for their children and changing their communities.
