Sadly, conditions in Darfur continue to be deeply distressing. In August the UN shared that in Sudan, as the food insecurity crisis spirals, women and girls are the “hungriest face of the crisis,” (UN Women Representative in Sudan). Right now, "women-led households in Sudan are three times more likely to experience severe insecurity than households led by men" (UN, 2025). Women and children continue to face displacement, food shortages, and lack of water. You can read the full article here about what the UN is still calling, "the world's worst humanitarian crisis" (UN, 2025).
Kids for Kids is doing everything possible to help mothers feed their children, especially little ones under five who are the most at risk. Thanks to your support, we have already been able to reach 49 villages with Emergnecy Kitchen Kits and are now targeting 40 more.
These kits include lentils, pulses, groundnuts and cooking oil for children aged five and under to drastically improve their health, as the conflict continues. We now have two priorities: to provide as many Kids Kitchen Kits to as many children as possible for food to eat right now AND to provide items like seed to plant which will take families forward beyond the rains, the harvest and into next year. Please consider donating a Kids Kitchen Kit to feed a family today.
We are so grateful to you all for your ongoing support, and happy to share that the Goats you have provided across our 110 Kids for Kids Villages continue to be a lifeline - ensuring nutritious milk for children who are suffering from a lack of protein and insufficient food to eat. We set up our Goat Loan to be sustainable, and every two years, Five Kid Goats from each Kids for Kids flock are passed along to benefit another family in the village. This means more and more women each year who can feed their children, and sell excess milk at market - thanks to you.
Just last month the 2nd Goat Rotation for the village of Tartoura Birkat Jaro (adopted by Kids for Kids in 2021) was completed, and more families from the village received their very own goats. This includes 37-year-old Nimat, mother of four children, who received five goats in 2023. Over the past two years her flock has grown massively, to 23 goats in June before passing five of her youngest kid goats on so another family can begin to grow their own flock! For two years, Nimat and her family have benefitted from protein-rich milk to drink, fresh from their nanny goats. They even had enough milk to share with their neighbours, so every child nearby also had nutritious milk to drink. Nimat has also been cooking with the milk - preparing food by mixing it with millet flour. She says this food is her children's absolute favourite!
Please help us help mothers to feed their children who are waking up hungry every day. We are their only hope.
