Empowering Girls with Sewing Machines

By Kajubi Jimmy | Project Leader

Dear Donors

The 156 girls identified for the sewing skills program continue to look forward to practical training that will help them develop useful skills for their future. In the community, there is growing enthusiasm among the girls as they prepare to begin and strengthen their sewing training.

The girls are being organized into groups so that they can learn in a supportive environment. The training will focus on practical skills, including understanding the sewing machine, threading and operating the machine safely, taking measurements, cutting fabric, and making simple clothing items.

The sewing machines are providing an important opportunity for the girls to move from simply learning about tailoring to gaining hands-on experience. As their confidence grows, they will be able to practice producing useful items and gradually improve their sewing abilities.

Progress on the Ground

- 156 girls are being reached through the project.

- Girls are being organized and prepared for practical sewing sessions.

- Training is focusing on hands-on learning and machine operation.

- The girls are showing strong interest and enthusiasm to learn.

- The program is helping girls develop practical skills that can support their future independence.

Training Focus

The upcoming practical sessions will help the girls learn how to operate sewing machines, maintain them properly, measure and cut fabric, and progressively make simple garments and other useful items.

Next Steps

Karitas Relief Mission will continue organizing the girls, supporting practical training sessions, monitoring their progress, and encouraging them to remain committed to learning. The goal is for the girls to gain confidence and practical sewing skills that they can continue using in their communities.

The enthusiasm among the girls is encouraging, and we look forward to seeing them develop from beginners into confident young women with practical tailoring skills.
