The Girl Child Foundation Uganda remains committed to ensuring that every girl has the opportunity to complete her education and build a brighter future. Through this project, we continue to address the root causes of child marriage by combining community outreach, educational support, mentorship, and advocacy.
During the reporting period, we engaged parents, community leaders, teachers, and local stakeholders in awareness campaigns focused on the long-term consequences of child marriage. These discussions highlighted how child marriage significantly increases school dropout rates and exposes girls to greater health, social, and economic risks. By fostering open dialogue, we are helping communities recognize the value of educating girls and delaying marriage.
The project also provided critical educational support to vulnerable girls through scholarships, school supplies, and mentorship programs. In many of the rural communities we serve, fewer than half of girls complete secondary education. Our support has enabled girls to remain in school, improve their academic performance, and gain confidence in pursuing their goals.
In addition, life-skills training sessions equipped girls with knowledge on leadership, decision-making, personal development, and reproductive health, empowering them to make informed choices about their futures. Local leaders and community champions have continued to play a vital role in advocating for girls' rights and challenging harmful social norms.
We are deeply grateful to our donors and partners whose support is transforming lives. Together, we are creating safer communities where girls can learn, thrive, and reach their full potential. Every contribution brings us closer to a future where no girl is forced to choose between education and early marriage.
