BUILDING CONFIDENCE THROUGH MENTORSHIP

By GERALD OTHIENO | PROJECT LEADER

Mentorship remains one of the most powerful tools for helping girls overcome challenges and realize their potential. Through this project, The Girl Child Foundation Uganda continues to provide guidance, encouragement, and positive role models to girls at risk of dropping out of school or entering child marriage.

This reporting period saw increased participation in mentorship activities designed to strengthen confidence, leadership, and personal growth. Girls engaged in discussions about education, career aspirations, goal setting, and overcoming obstacles. Mentors shared experiences and practical advice, helping participants recognize their abilities and believe in their future possibilities.

Educational support also remained a priority. Scholarships and school materials enabled vulnerable girls to continue attending school and remain focused on their studies. Many beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn without the constant worry of financial hardship.

Alongside mentorship, life-skills training sessions addressed communication, decision-making, and self-awareness. These activities encouraged girls to become active participants in shaping their own futures and strengthened their ability to resist pressures that may lead to early marriage.

Community outreach efforts further reinforced these gains by engaging parents and local leaders in conversations about the importance of supporting girls' education. Their involvement is helping create a more supportive environment for young women.

We are grateful to our donors for investing in the potential of girls. Your support is not only helping girls stay in school but also building the confidence and leadership skills they need to become successful and empowered members of their communities.
