Ending child marriage requires the collective effort of families, leaders, and communities. Through this project, The Girl Child Foundation Uganda continues to engage local stakeholders in promoting girls' education and protecting children from harmful practices.
This reporting period focused heavily on community outreach and awareness activities. Parents, local leaders, teachers, and youth representatives participated in workshops designed to highlight the risks associated with child marriage and the importance of keeping girls in school. These discussions provided an opportunity for community members to share experiences, ask questions, and explore solutions together.
Many participants expressed a greater understanding of how child marriage affects girls' health, education, and future opportunities. Community leaders pledged to support efforts aimed at preventing school dropouts and encouraging families to invest in their daughters' education. These commitments are helping to create an environment where girls are valued and supported.
The project also continued to provide educational assistance to vulnerable girls. Scholarships and school materials helped reduce financial barriers, allowing girls to attend classes regularly and focus on their studies. Mentorship sessions further strengthened their confidence and aspirations.
By involving the entire community, we are witnessing gradual but meaningful shifts in attitudes toward girls' education and child marriage. Community members are increasingly becoming advocates for change and role models for others.
We thank our donors for making this progress possible. Their support is helping transform community attitudes, protect girls' rights, and build a future where every girl has the opportunity to complete her education and reach her potential.
