Dear supporters, family and friends of Serendipity,

From the last time you heard from us, we were to transition into two new rural communities in Kumbotso and Gezawa Local Governing Council in Kano, Nigeria by providing them Insecticide Treated Nets, first line malaria drugs and health education on environmental cleanliness and home management of malaria when the doctor is not around. We were only able to achieve entry into Gezawa Local Governing Council where we had town hall meetings with all stakeholders inclusive of the district head, women group and the local community based organization to best understand the community needs.

30 Insecticide Treated Nets were given to children with a talk on the importance of them sleeping underneath it with their families to reduce incidences of cases of malaria. Malaria Spot Checks were conducted and first line drugs administered to them for the 10 children tested four of them had malaria.

The next phase of our campaign is to introduce a school curriculum on malaria, we have developed as a guide for the children in the community school towards achieving total prevention of malaria. We hope to achieve entry into Kumbotso Local Governing Council within the next couple of days in breaking new grounds again.

Through your kind donations, we have been able to achieve all of this and hope to scale up our activities with your continued support, kind words and donations in ending malaria in rural communities in Kano, Nigeria.
