Challenge

There are currently reported cases of deaths occurring amongst children in our communities in Kano State and recently a state of emergency was declared by the Federal Ministry of Health on Kano (FMOH report July 2022) due to lack of access to Insecticide Treated Nets, lack of awareness by their mothers/caregivers on first aid treatment of malaria, recognition of signs & symptoms of malaria as well as environmental cleanliness. It is as a result of this occurrence thus our intervention to help.

Solution

The project will provide insecticide treated nets, first line medication for malaria, Indoor and Outdoor residual sprayers, rapid diagnostic test kits to test for malaria. This project will also train women on home management of malaria, recognition of signs&symptoms before seeking medical care; teaching these women will reduce the scourge of malaria vectors and save children's lives. The project will also provide a yearly health insurance scheme where families can benefit from

Long-Term Impact

The project will impact on 5000 direct women and children in seven communities in Kano which will reflect on the health and well being of their communities and thus save lives & ricochet to more than 10000 in other neighboring communities through the cascade of knowledge learnt on malaria prevention as they will be enjoined to pass on this information on the use of ITNs. The project will also ensure that the surroundings are sprayed with organic insecticide to reduce the scourge of malaria
