Dear Friends and Supporters of SHF,

Wow!!It has been a very fulfilling past weeks working with the women of madobi on how to use Insecticide Treated Nets as a way of reducing the malaria bites. The last time you heard from us, we held a workshop with stakeholders;community leaders such as the women groups, religious heads and the youths to key into the need to keep their environment clean, free from malaria vector.

The second stage of our project took us to the grassroots where we taught 20 women on the need to use mosquito teated nets, how to keep their environment clean both within and outside of their premises. The training involved the use of participatory skills assessment where the women contributed their knowledge on use of mosquito nets, not allowing stagnant water within their premises, making sure that there are nets on the windows and doors of their homes even as far using used engine oil to pour into their gutters to reduce the malaria vectors.

These trainings will be done in batches of 20 women each till we reach the required number of 200 women we have targeted till the project is fully funded. Although, we have not received any funding online, we know that with your kind support by telling your family and friends about our project goes a long way and we are grateful for every support rendered to us.

Habiba Shehu one of the women in the first batch trained has this to say "I am really grateful for the training that I have received today as I never knew that used enigine oil can be used in gutters as my friend and sister in law Barira stated today"

We would appreciate any effort/contribution towards our project to fight this menace of malaria in Madobi and reduce the deaths of children from 5 per 15 cases to 1 per 15 from the last report from the primary healthcare centre.

Please feel free to email us for further clarifications on serenhealthcare@gmail.com or fatima@sernedipityhealthcare.org or visit our website on www.serendipityhealthcare.org or facebook page/serenhealthcare.

Thank you,
