Dear Supporters, Family and Friends of Serendipity Healthcare Foundation,

In order to reach as many community members within Madobi and Kano State as a whole, the Serendipity team had a five day malaria awareness campaign using two radio stations in Kano WAZOBIA FM Kano 95.1 and AREWA RADIO 93.1 in Hausa and Pidgin English as both stations has a very wide coverage within Kano and outside of Kano; the campaign took place from the 13th - 17th of February 2017.

The campaign involved community announcements on the need for children under five and pregnant women who are the most vulnerable to sleep under Insecticide treated nets, pregnant women seeking quality healthcare services, to attend ante natal care as soon as possible to avoid malaria and keeping their environment clean and free from dirt.

There was two live radio call in interviews in both the local language Hausa and Pidgin English where community members were calling in to ask questions about malaria.

We are aware that the media is key to passing on our messages on the importance of ITNs as well as its usage hence the use of radio which is the best means to reach the rural communities in Kano and bringing this messages closer home in the local language for effectiveness.

There is so much we can do to reduce the prevalence of malaria in our rural communities hence we solicit your continued support to do more and also thank you for the confidence you have reposed in us as a focal contact point between the rural communities and your good selves.

You can follow us on twitter @serendipityHea1 or Facebook/serenhealthcare or LinkedIn/samirahfaruk to learn more about our work

Best Regards,

Fatima Lawani
