Dear Supporters, Family and Friends of Serendipity Healthcare Foundation,
As part of our resolve to ensure that we achieve a malaria free environment in our communities in Madobi, Kano as a whole; our community outreach team conducted malaria tests for thirty children in three new communities namely Burkiya, Madobi and during the World Malaria Week which took place from 13 – 26 of April, 2017. The tests were conducted using Rapid Diagnostic Test Kits and showed that out of thirty children, ten of them had symptoms of Malaria. They were immediately treated and given ITNs with training to its usage.
There were also stories collected from the community on issues ranging from home management of malaria, actions under taken by community members on development, sanitation and hygiene, advocacy amongst others. This was done in order to hear firsthand from the community problems they were encountering, how Serendipity has been impacted upon them since inception of the project and where we can improve and the way forward, the kind of changes they would like to see undertaken by all stakeholders.
We are aware that much more needs to be done to cover more communities and these are the ways to which we can reach out to these communities, one of which is your continued donations and support to distribute more Insecticide Treated Nets, create a rewards scheme for pregnant mothers to access quality healthcare and ITNs, residual indoor spraying and rapid diagnostic test kits to test community members.
You can follow us on twitter @serendipityHea1 or Facebook/serenhealthcare or LinkedIn/samirahfaruk to learn more about our work
Best Regards,
Abubakar Sadiq
