This project trains 4,000 orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in Nigeria with practical life skills such as motor mechanics, salon and hairdressing, and haircutting. Children gain the knowledge and tools to start small businesses, stop begging, and support their education. After training, graduates receive startup kits to help them earn income and build better, independent lives.
Many OVC in Nigeria are forced to beg due to poverty and lack of skills. This leaves children vulnerable to exploitation, abuse, and poor health, while limiting opportunities for education. Without practical skills or startup support, children remain trapped in street begging and cannot secure income to improve their lives.
The project provides life skills training in trades such as motor mechanics, hairdressing, and haircutting. Classes combine practical lessons, mentorship, and entrepreneurship guidance. Graduates receive startup kits to help them begin small businesses, earn income, and support their education, reducing street begging and building independence.
Children move from street begging to earning sustainable income. They gain confidence, life skills, and financial independence. Education attendance improves as children can now support themselves. Communities benefit from safer streets, fewer vulnerable children begging, and empowered youth contributing to their households and society.
