FAWE Computer Lab Report & Classes Resume This Week

Dear Project Supporters,

The girls at FAWE have benefited tremendously from training and YOU made this happen!

The computer lab is now running on electricity provided by the acquisition of an electric meter and hookup to National Power. This has eliminated the need to use a generator and has greatly reduced the noise level. It is a welcomed improvement for the lab's learning environment.

The students have received computer training covering a wide range of topics, such as:

  • Different operating systems - Ubuntu, Windows XP and Windows 7
  • Parts of the computer system hardware
  • Identifying input and output devices
  • Functions of the mouse - pointing, clicking, double-clicking, right-clicking and dragging
  • Types of keyboards
  • How to create and format documents using word processing software
  • How to use the Internet and Wikipedia to learn more about searching for different subjects - Mathematics, English, Social Studies, General Science, Agriculture Science, etc. - as required in the Sierra Leone school syllabus

YOUR continued support is greatly appreciated. With your help we have repaired damaged furniture used in the computer lab.  After being closed for over 8 months due to the Ebola crisis, schools have reopened.  Our computer classes have resumed and the girls are eagerly learning again. We need your help with providing the students with on-going computer training.  Your $25.00 donation will provide a computer training manual for 5 girls.

On May 13th at 9AM until Midnight EDT - Give and get matched on GlobalGiving BONUS DAY as a great way to make your donations go even further.  GlobalGiving is matching EVERY eligible donation on Bonus Day - in the first-ever Pro-Rated Bonus Day.  All donations up to $1,000 per donor per project will be matched.

Thanks so much. We appreciate YOU!

Best Wishes,

Develop Africa Team
