Dear Project Supporters,
Your support is making a difference for future leaders in Nigeria, like Nofisat, who after reading the Pencil Project book, was inspired to start a social impact project for underprivileged students. With your ongoing support, we were able to ship more school supplies to Nigeria for Nofisat to continue distributing to students in underserved primary schools.
According to Nofisat, she doesn’t want "lack of writing materials to be an excuse for students not to do well in school". She decided to go back to her primary school because she recalled the difficulty she had with learning when she couldn’t afford a pencil or writing materials while in primary school.
In March of 2019, Nofisat along with a few of her peers carried out another outreach to two underserved public primary schools to distribute educational materials - pencils, crayons, markers, sharpeners, drawing books, notepads, etc. The beneficiaries were pupils in nursery one, primary one and primary three with ages ranging from 5 - 8. She also spent some time, teaching them colors and guided them as they used the coloring books. The pupils were so happy with this rare opportunity to color as many of them lack basic educational materials.
In addition, she shared her personal story and encouraged the pupils on the need to stay focused and get the best from their education emphasizing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4- Quality Education. She explained that getting a good education can help end poverty, hunger among other social problems.
Thank you so much for believing in the youth, investing in them and for empowering Nofisat to give more opportunities to the less privileged. We encourage you to start a monthly recurring donation here. Even a few dollars a month will go a long way. Please also share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this ongoing project.
