Children and youths from low-income backgrounds in Nigeria are stuck in a vicious cycle of poverty. Their limiting background and the overwhelming poverty offer no path to success. We are helping to change their prospects and outlook by supporting them through college. They are encouraged to pursue their dreams and mentored. Education is opening the door to new opportunities - totally transforming their lives and making a huge difference.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the Nigerian unemployment and underemployment rate for those aged 15 to 24 years was as high as 33% in 2017. These promising youth are often at risk of dropping out of school. They are likely to engage in delinquent behaviors like drug abuse, cultism, internet scams, gambling, and teenage pregnancy. Without education, mentoring, and essential skills, their chances of breaking out of this vicious cycle are very, very slim.
Funds from this project are the last resort for many desperate youths that are at the brink of dropping out of school/college. Together we are ensuring that youths pursue their education - a fundamental human right. By investing in their education, their lives are empowered and transformed. The education we are providing is opening doors to better opportunities and a great future. By extension, their families are also positively impacted. This is the BEST investment that we can make.
Helping youths complete their education is pivotal to increasing employment and income opportunities. Additionally, we are together helping to break the generational cycle of poverty. We are truly made a lasting difference in the lives of Nigerian youths and their families, one life at a time.
