22+ international experts, will train 19 medical professionals and 50 student nurses in Malawi to improve seizure management skills, better medication selection and monitoring, managing complex epilepsy cases during a training on Epilepsy Assessment and Management course7.0 offered by Pretola Health Global & consulting. The course will be coordinated by Epilepsy Warriors Foundation in Malawi.
Although effective anti-epileptic drugs are available to treat epilepsy, as many as 90% of those living in Low- and Middle-Income countries (LMIC's) do not receive the current standard of care. Thus, studies in LMIC's report a large treatment gap defined as those not receiving treatment or those receiving inadequate treatment for epilepsy. By providing clinicians and student nurses with up to date training on epilepsy assessment and management they will in turn we able to provide adequate standard of treatment for epilepsy. In the absence of a neurologist clinicians will be able to assist people with epilepsy with the highest standards
