A Safe Home for 100 Children in Goma

Orphanage Kitchen

1. Project Background

The LEVE-MOI orphanage, located in Goma, North Kivu (DR Congo), currently shelters over 100 orphaned children aged 1 to 16. Unfortunately, the kitchen is not adequately equipped to meet the nutritional and safety needs of these children.

The lack of proper cooking tools, safe equipment, and hygienic preparation space not only affects the quality of meals but also exposes staff to risks such as burns and domestic accidents.

2. Project Objective

This project aims to fully equip the kitchen of the LEVE-MOI orphanage in order to:

  • Ensure healthy, regular, and balanced meals for over 100 children.
  • Create a safe working environment for kitchen staff.
  • Promote health, well-being, and dignity among the children.
  • Improve hygiene and food preparation standards.

3. Expected Impact

With the implementation of this project:

  • 100+ children will receive properly cooked, nutritious meals every day.
  • Staff members will work in a safe and protected environment.
  • Sanitary conditions will be improved, reducing food-related illnesses.
  • Children's dignity will be preserved through proper nutritional care.

4. Partnership with GlobalGiving

Our collaboration with GlobalGiving enables us to reach a global network of donors committed to humanitarian causes. Although the total budget is $5,950 USD, we have already raised $50 USD, marking the first step toward our goal.

Thanks to GlobalGiving:

  • The project gains international visibility.
  • Donations are secure and transparent.
  • Donors can track the project’s progress at every stage.
  • Total required: $5,950 USD
  • Funds raised so far: $50 USD
  • Remaining needed: $5,900 USD

5. Overall Budget

The budget includes the purchase of kitchen tools, protective gear for staff, proper cooking equipment, and minor hygiene-related renovations.

6. Call to Donors

We warmly invite donors, organizations, and individuals of goodwill to support this vital initiative. Every contribution, no matter the amount, brings us closer to creating a safe and healthy environment for these vulnerable children.

Together, we can equip this kitchen, feed these children, and offer them a life of dignity and hope.
