Feed 100 Orphans in Goma

By AGIZO JOSUE | CORDINATOR

The project “Equipping the Kitchen of the Kivu Orphanage to Feed 100 Children” aims to equip the kitchen of the LEVE-MOI orphanage in Goma (Kivu), to ensure healthy and nutritious meals for more than 100 orphaned children aged 1 to 16 years. Currently, the orphanage lacks cooking tools and basic infrastructure, which prevents safe and hygienic food preparation.

The Problem

The absence of adequate kitchen equipment exposes the staff and children to burn risks while compromising the quality of the meals. This situation threatens the children’s health and growth and jeopardizes the safety of those preparing the meals.

Project Objective

Create a safe and functional cooking space that allows for:

  • The preparation of healthy and balanced meals,
  • Protection of staff and children from kitchen hazards,
  • Long-term improvement of children’s living conditions.

Expected Impact

  • More than 100 children receive nutritious meals daily,
  • Reduced health risks and injuries,
  • A safer and more dignified environment for the children,
  • Sustainable improvements for future generations at the orphanage.

Progress and Funding

The total project budget is $6,000.

So far, $50 has already been raised through our partnership with GlobalGiving, a trusted international crowdfunding platform that helps us mobilize resources from donors worldwide.

Next Steps

  • Continue fundraising through GlobalGiving,
  • Purchase and install essential kitchen equipment (utensils, safety gear, furniture),
  • Train staff on safe and hygienic cooking practices,
  • Monitor and evaluate short- and long-term impact.

Call for Support

We urgently call on all generous hearts, organizations, and humanitarian partners:

Help us reach the $6,000 goal to transform the lives of these children.

Every donation counts. Even the smallest contribution can make a huge difference.

Thanks to GlobalGiving, your support is secure, transparent, and goes directly to this high-impact project.

Acknowledgements

We express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has already donated, especially the initial donors who helped us raise the first $50. Your generosity proves that hope is alive.

Conclusion

This project is much more than just a kitchen: it aims to restore dignity, ensure safety, and nourish the future of more than 100 vulnerable children.

Together, with your help and the support of GlobalGiving, we will reach our goal.
