Our community faces a silent crisis: the devastating ripple effects of children leaving school prematurely. Without education or support, these young lives are forced into dangerous paths with lifelong consequences.
For our girls, dropping out often leads to forced early marriage and pregnancy. It is common to see girls as young as 15 bearing children, severely risking death or injury during childbirth due to their undeveloped bodies. Their childhoods end, and their futures are crippled.
Our boys, lacking skills and opportunity, are pushed towards toxic alternatives. Many engage in drug abuse and petty crime, damaging their health and community safety. Others face brutal child labour, undertaking heavy, dangerous work to scrape together earnings for themselves and their younger siblings.
This is not a crisis of choice, but of circumstance. Poverty, lack of school fees, and family pressure create an inescapable trap. Each dropout represents a life of potential extinguished and a cycle of poverty reinforced.
