Jesca arrives at school each morning with a quiet dignity that belies her years. She is the first to greet a visitor with a shy smile and the last to leave a classroom, carefully erasing the board without being asked. Her uniform is always clean, though we notice it is the same one she has worn all week. When the lunch bell rings, she often lingers, finding small tasks to delay going home—not out of reluctance for her studies, but because the meal she receives here might be the only substantial one she will have today.
Her academic record speaks of a brilliant, curious mind. In class, her hand is often raised, her questions thoughtful and profound. She dreams of becoming a nurse, a desire born from watching her grandmother struggle with illness in their small, humble home. For Jesca, education is not merely a path to a job; it is a lifeline out of poverty, a chance to heal her family and, one day, her community.
But the burden is heavy. The weight of financial strain at home is now threatening to pull her from these halls and into a life of endless hardship. To let Jesca slip away now would be to extinguish a flame that could one day illuminate the world. Keeping her in school is not just an act of charity; it is an investment in a future where one determined girl’s dream becomes a reality for us all. Please, help us keep Jesca’s light burning.
