Ongoing footwear program

By Seguya Ivan | Project leader

Dear Donors,

Thanks to your generosity, we have successfully increased the distribution of footwear to the girls under this program. As the new term approaches, we request your continued partnership to fund and distribute additional shoes and scholastic materials to ensure every girl returns to school fully prepared.

Progress Update

Your previous contributions have yielded a key outcome: a significant increase in the number of girls equipped with durable shoes. This means more of our girls can walk to school safely, with dignity and confidence.

The Risk: Disease and Parasites

Walking barefoot exposes our girls to serious health threats. Without shoes, they risk contracting:

· Hookworms and other parasites that enter through the feet, leading to anemia, malnutrition, and fatigue

· Podoconiosis (elephantiasis of the feet), a preventable but debilitating disease

· Jiggers (sand fleas) that burrow into bare feet, causing pain, infection, and difficulty walking

· Cuts and wounds that easily become infected, especially in rural areas with contaminated soil

These conditions cause absenteeism, limit physical activity, and drain the energy a girl needs to learn. A pair of shoes is not just footwear—it is a shield against disease.

 Current Operational Gap

Despite this progress, a distribution deficit remains. As the new term approaches, some of our girls still lack shoes and basic learning tools. Without immediate intervention, they will continue walking barefoot, exposing themselves to preventable diseases.

. Distribution Plan

We aim to distribute remaining shoes and materials before school reopens. This includes:

· Procuring durable, protective footwear

· Assembling individual kits (shoes, notebooks, pens, sanitary pads, backpacks)

· Coordinating rural logistics to reach every girl

We request your support to distribute these materials immediately. An urgent confirmation of available resources will allow procurement and logistics to commence without delay.

Thank you for standing with us—and with our girls—to protect their health, dignity, and future.

With gratitude,

F SSIBU MISSION FOUNDATION-UGANDA
