Dear Friend of F Ssibu Mission Foundation,
We want to share how your generosity is changing lives through our Solar Lamp Initiative — and why we need your continued support to reach even more children.
For many of the children in our program, homework happens after dark. Without electricity at home, they've had only two options: study by dangerous kerosene lamps, or not study at all. Kerosene fumes harm young lungs, and the open flames have caused burns and house fires in our communities. Too many bright, capable children have fallen behind simply because they couldn't see their own textbooks after sunset.
Here's the impact we're already seeing:
More study time. Children with solar lamps are gaining 2-3 extra hours of safe study time each evening.
Better school performance. Teachers report improved homework completion and classroom participation among children who received lamps.
Improved safety and health. Families are moving away from kerosene, reducing burn risks and smoke-related respiratory issues.
Stronger school retention. Consistent, safe study time is helping keep vulnerable children — especially girls — engaged and enrolled in school.
Peace of mind for families. Parents no longer have to choose between their child's education and their safety.
Each solar lamp is a small, one-time investment with impact that lasts for years. It doesn't just light a room — it opens a path to a stronger education, a safer home, and a brighter future for a child who might otherwise be left in the dark.
Your gift today can put a solar lamp directly into the hands of a child who needs it.
With gratitude for standing with our children,
F Ssibu Mission Foundation Tram
