Our practical skills project is creating a new pathway for girls and school dropouts to discover their creativity and develop abilities that can contribute to their future self-reliance. Through craft-making, girls are learning how to transform simple materials into useful and attractive products while developing patience, precision, creativity, and confidence.
The girls are progressively improving their hand skills as they practice cutting, shaping, joining, decorating, and finishing different craft products. Each training session provides an opportunity to learn a new technique and improve on previous work. The visible improvement in their ability to complete tasks independently demonstrates what can happen when young people receive consistent mentorship and opportunities to practice.
Craft-making can also become a foundation for entrepreneurship. With appropriate guidance, girls can learn how to identify products that are useful within their communities, calculate production costs, improve quality, and explore ways of selling their work. These skills can complement other vocational areas such as tailoring, weaving, hairdressing, and beauty services.
For girls who have experienced school dropout, the project provides an opportunity to continue learning and building confidence. We want them to recognize that leaving school does not have to mean giving up on their future.
With donor support, we can reach more girls with materials, tools, trainers, mentorship, and entrepreneurship opportunities. Together, we can help young women turn their creativity into practical abilities and practical abilities into possibilities for a more independent future.
Every craft created is a reminder that potential can grow when opportunity is provided.
