Inclusive Music at the NAMM Show

By Jessica Baron | Executive Director

NAMM Workshop 2023
NAMM Workshop 2023

We are excited to share that in April, Guitars and Ukes in the Classroom was able to present three intensive workshops and 2 leadership panels at the international NAMM Show, held in Anaheim, California.

Teachers and music facilitators, district administrators, artists, and nonprofit leaders to join us to explore ways of inclusing everyone by making music more accessible!

Coming from all over the world, these inspiring individuals joined up to explore ways of adapting instruments, teaching and leading student songwriting for social emotional learning, and very importantly, they connected with each other about what they are doing in their own music practices to be more inclusive of students with diverse abilities and challenges.

Bringing adaptive music to this large and important stage is a first in our history having participated with NAMM for many years.

We are immensely grateful to all of the educators, helpers, advocates and leaders who participated on our panels and set remarkable examples for people in the room who had never heard of leaders doing the things these people have accomplished in their careers to open the doors to music.

Thank you to everyone who made it possible including our instrument providers, Cordoba, Martin, Saga, and our accessory providers, Dunlop, Korg, and D'Addario, and to the amazing NAMM Foundation!
