Project Report | Dec 30, 2022
New Family Members

By Lupita Rodriguez | Girls Home

Puerta Abierta, fortunately is now fully in a circular mode, as the older girls finish their cycle, after graduating from college, and leaving the house to pursue their life projects, while younger girls arrive and start their own structured and programmed cycle within the house.  Certainly in their own personality and style.

We now have two young girls, each with their overwhelming personal backgrounds, but happily, very enthused of becoming part of this loving family.

Alison, 16-years old, is quiet, very much wanting to learn new things, but with some loopholes in her academic history, perhaps due to lack of follow-up at her previous home, and her emotional stability.   She likes programming and video games.  Certainly something very interesting, challenging and with a bright future.

We hope to support her in this new phase of her life and help her in her emotional stability and schooling pursuits.

Ximena, 17 years old, is in the final phase of high-school.  Apparently, she is interested in continuing college studying accounting, although we can see some challenges related to her cognitive development, but that with discipline and mentorship  should be overcome.

Every time new girls arrive we face new challenges, arising from their adaptation to the new rules, new environment and most of all, their acceptance by the other girls.  We have seen however, that these new girls have made a special effort in adapting, relating to and being accepted in the family.   Fortunately, we now see that all parties involved, new arrivals and former members, all make a concerted effort to adapt, relate and continue on in harmony.

All want to be accepted, respected, cherished and loved.

As mentors to them, we need to be firm in enforcing the house rules, but always with respect and most of all, with warm and loving support while adapting and eventually growing up.

Our goal is to grow strong, respected, loved and loving women.
