Dear all,
Kindly find our project update report below and attached pictures
UPDATES ON FAMILY MICRO-ENTERPRISES
We are happy to update you on microenterprises that you helped us establish for families of vulnerable and orphaned children. These families experienced a prolonged drought that affected their businesses throughout last year and the beginning of this year. Families with livestock business struggled to feed their animals while some who ran other type of businesses such as beadwork work spent the proceeds they generated to buy livestock feeds
Despite the challenges one family in livestock farming business sold the cow that was almost dying due to drought and used the proceeds to start a shop business. The shop now generates income that helps them to meet their day to day needs.
Another family in the same livestock farming business is now thrilled after the cow we supported them gave birth to another calf increasing the total to three cows. The family gets milk for sale and consumption which enables them receive good nutrition and meet their day to day needs.
Update on Petal (reusable towel) Micro-enterprises
This month we were able to distribute petal sanitary towels to another neighboring school as part of our child protection programme.
Access to sanitary towels among girls and young women is still a significant challenge which drives us to assist school girls by distributing reusable sanitary towels.
The sanitary towels are intended to boost girls' self-esteem so that they can compete with other students. During the distribution, the girls were also taken through a hygiene talk
Thank you so much for your support. We will keep you updated on the progress of these Micro-enterprises.
UPDATES ON CHILDREN WELFARE
In January and April this year, we conducted home visits to all of our children whom we reunited with their families. The purpose of these visits was to check and assess their progress. We are glad to share with you that the children are doing great and adjusting to family life. During the visit, we provided the families with food packages, children school-related items, and clothing for children. Along with these visits, we visited the schools our children attend to assess their academic progress and make plans on how they will be able to compete with other students.
On the other hand, our Care Leavers (Older children) are doing well. One of them was privileged to get an opportunity to work in Germany, three graduated and are searching for jobs.
This year in January we were able to enroll two of them in a beauty school and two others to pursue catering courses. The two in beauty school graduated and we supported them with start-up kits so they can start generating income for their day-to-day needs
Thank you so much for helping us achieve these we will keep you updated on their progress.
