Our Future is in the Balance

By Tyrone Bennett | CEO / President

Dear Friends and Family,

As we start to learn to live with COVID-19 as part of our lives we have taken this opportunity to review our future of our school. Sadly our project Director had to leave the community but the rest of our local and dedicated staff members have returned and continue to run our project.

It costs us around $3,000 a month to keep our school open and to provide 75 children with an education and 3 meals a-day. It's a small school but without us these children would go hungry and uneducated so it is very important to us that we continue to provide our services. Pre- COVID-19 we was 100% funded by a couple of sources along wirth you and others on GlobalGiving. Sadly we have lost some of this support and now our future is in the balance as we prepare to rasie the funds needed.

We would love your help to promote our project and help us get some regular monthly supporters so that we can continue to provide for our children here in Brazil. All donatioons go directly to this project and school and it costs us around $100 a month to purchase enough fruit to provide a fruit breakfast to every child. We also cook a hot meal for each child at lunch and another small snack before they go home, we are also able to send food parcels home for the weekend and for all this food it costs us aroud $500 a month. Above this it costs us around $2,400 a month in electricity, gas, staff salaries and supplies to teach our children and all this is 100% free to the children and funded by donations only.

We want to make our project sustainable and have some great plans to build a sustainable food source and work with the local government to register and source government funding but in the short term we are moving to emergency management to help our school survive.

We know the future is going to be tough for us but from our team of dedicated local staff we will never give up and thank you for your support!

Thanks,
