When There Is Nothing Left in the Kitchen

By Khalid Abubakar | Project Leader

Hunger tightens grip on drought-stricken North
Hunger tightens grip on drought-stricken North

Dear Donors,

Thank you for remembering hungry and displaced families in Northern Nigeria.

For many families, hunger begins quietly.

The food in the kitchen becomes less and less. A parent starts reducing portions. Children are given the little food available first. Then one day, there is simply nothing left to cook.

This is happening to families whose lives have been disrupted by insecurity, displacement, rising food prices and the loss of access to farmland.

Many farmers can no longer safely reach their farms. Without their harvest or regular income, feeding a family becomes a daily struggle.

For displaced families, the situation can be even harder. They may have left their homes with very little and now depend on assistance or relatives to survive.

Children are among those who suffer most when food becomes scarce.

A hungry child cannot learn properly, play normally or grow as they should.

Through this project, Clarion Times Foundation plans to provide staple foods such as rice, beans and other food items to families facing hunger. Support will also include medical screening, free medicines, mobile healthcare and clean drinking water.

Widows, older people, people with disabilities and families with young children will receive special consideration.

No parent should have to watch their child go hungry because there is nothing left to cook.

Thank you for standing with families who are going through this difficult time.

Please share this project with someone who may want to help.

With gratitude,
Khalid Abubakar
