Together we learn a lot!

On September 29th children from Foundation Time of Peace enjoyed a wonderful retreat, it was a day of having fun and learning a lot. We had qualified personnel and the objective was to train kids in principles and values for being positive agents of change in their communities.
One of the most important and enriching experience was kids shared with children from the other Center because we joined beneficiaries from our 2 branches. Teachers prepared group interesting topics, dynamics, games and theatre plays. The idea is to transform kids by the renewing of their minds, most of them have grown in a violent environments and to be with people from other neighborhoods make them more sensitive to different people.
There was time for learning about some animals like praying mantis and butterflies because these species have curious behavior we can use as examples, we have realized our boys and girls need not only academic knowledge but personnal growth and if we can joined both in a very funny context they could embrace very important academic concepts to their daily lifes.

Violence doesn't stop us

2018 hasn’t been an easy year, we have experienced a lot of episodes of violence during this semester in Medellin, especially in District 13 where Foundation Time of Peace has one of its childhood centers, however our team has the commitment of eradicating hunger among children, we consider if we can supply critical needs in our communities it will means a reduction in probabilities of children engage in illegal activities. During some days transport conditions in our neighborhoods are very poor, some transport companies decided to stop services because of extorsions, nevertheless children and parents make all efforts for attending Foundation because they enjoy a lot not only for activities but because of peaceful environment they have there.
In spite of adverse conditions our team doesn’t stop, from January to May Foundation Time of Peace has delivered 9.437 food rations. It is a huge support for families, parents feel supported because they consider Foundation not only as an nutritional supplier but as a safe place for their children, they feel their kids are protected when they attend our centers, from Monday to Friday they are quiet because they know our team takes care of guys with food, recreational activities, educational help and the most important: love.

LESS HUNGER, MORE HAPPINESS
During this first semester Time of Peace Foundation is working hard for reducing hunger in Districts 8 and 13 in Medellin, we are looking after 65 kids, food safety contributes also in kids academic achievement, we realized now kids are less violent because anxiety has been reduced, now they don't have to think about what to eat, before they go to Foundation kids were very upset because they usually don't have enough dinner in their houses.
We also could adapt facilities because we know to have a beautiful environment is a good way of increasing happiness in children, that's why last month Time of Peace Foundation team painted childhood center, our main objective is to contribute to our kids well-being.
Most of our beneficiaries live in a very high level of poverty and we they arrive to a renewed house it produces a very positive impact in their hearts, Foundation is a place they love, they feel safe and they feel really good to have a nice dinner room.
