“I really enjoy studying here for several reasons. Being in this place allows me to focus exclusively on my studies and take part in various field experiences during practical lessons. I also have access to meals, which makes all the difference. I can only express my deepest gratitude for the support provided by ESMABAMA,” says Manuel Felisberto Chindotana, a student at the Estaquinha Agricultural Institute.
Between October 2024 and January 2025, less food was purchased as the schools were closed from November to January. The new school year starts in February.
In December 2024, we received a disbursement of 93.05 USD (equivalent to 5,880.76 MZN) for this project. This generous contribution enabled us to purchase 168 kilograms of salt to support the boarding schools.
During the same period, from October 2024 to January 2025, ESMABAMA spent a total of 652,100 Meticais (MZN), equivalent to 10,116.4 USD. This amount was used to purchase:
21,429.87 Kgs of Maize for 578.000,00 Meticais (MZN) = 8966.8 dollars (USD)
40,623.61 Kgs of Beans for 60.000,00 MZN = 930.81 USD
65.31 Liters of Cooking Oil for 8,850 MZN = 137.294 USD
62.12 Kgs of Sugar for 5,250 = 81.445 USD
During the current drought that exacerbates food insecurity, the combined efforts of ESMABAMA, partners, and donors ensure students receive proper nutrition. This support empowers them to stay focused and achieve their academic goals despite the challenges.
The Support given to us in donations still be a great help for our work of improving the quality of life in the communities providing, health, education, skills and tools for agricultural resilience.
