From November to February, we sent for our missions: 4.800kg of beans equivalent to 340.400meticais (MZN), 26.000kg of maize equivalent to 546.000 (MZN), 1.100kg of sugar equivalent to 75.350 (MZN), 985l of oil equivalent to 143.810 (MZN) and 270kg of salt equivalent to 4.445mt. These 3 months, we expense 1.110.005 (MZN), equivalent to 17.386.37 dollars ($). These quantities feed around 1.480 students with the right to 3 meals a day. In 92 days, 408.480 meals were prepared. During this period, we received a donation from GlobalGiving 500 ($) equivalent to 32.500 (MZN). It should be noted that in these months some students go home on holiday, so the quantities are smaller than in other quarters. Normally in the same period we spend much more.
We have 12 boarding schools (female and male) in the missions of Estaquinha, Mangunde, Barada and Machanga. These are boarding schools of the agricultural institutes and general schools.
Flora* is a student living in a boarding school of ESMABAMA. For her, living in the boarding school makes studying possible. She told us, "in the region where I come from it is difficult to continue studying after grade 7. Schools are far away, and people easily give up. Thanks to ESMABAMA, we can continue our studies. Many people my age have dropped out of school and got married prematurely.”
