Thousands of children who have families affected by the earthquake on 6 February, refugee families trying to build a new life after war and migration, and families struggling with the economic crisis in Turkiye need regular financial support to have equal opportunities with their peers. As YECED, we provide regular financial support to strengthen children; however, we need more financial sponsors to change children's lives! Sponsors are supporting children with 18$ monthly and 126$ annualy!
Wars and natural disasters affect children the most, exposing them not only to immediate effects but also to long-term social consequences. As a result of such crises, children cannot reach their basic rights like food, shelter, clothing and education. Most likely, children are forced to be child labor and kept away from the school, which leads them to face dangers like exploitation, being targeted by illegal organizations, substance abuse, ghettoisation and becoming a lost generation.
In the scope of the financial sponsorship project, we will deliver monthly financial support to families of children in need who are visited and identified by our social worker team, mostly in the earthquake zone of Turkiye. After delivering cash support, we are following the social and educational development of children and be sure that they are not forced to be child labor. With this solution, hundreds of children reach equal opportunities with their peers.
In the long term, children will be protected by the risk of child labor when their families are financially supported and have educational opportunities with their peers when their basic needs are met. With the education, these disadvantaged children will adapt to the social, cultural and economic life of the community they live in. They will have a chance to change their world and other children as well.
