This project will help complete an ongoing building apartment to shelter the homeless disabled couple (Uzor and wife) and their five kids who were victims of a fire incident in a deprived rural community in Southeast Nigeria. The Fire Disaster Victims Recovery Campaign intends to complete a build RUWAI started for the family and provide food, clothing, healthcare support, water, and school items to recover from shocks. It will empower the couple with alternative income skills for livelihoods.
Mr Uzor's wife, her six-year-old daughter, and four children face hardship due to their involvement in a domestic fire outbreak. The wife had purchased a fake kerosine which caused the explosion while cooking with the bad kerosine. The incident has rendered the poor deaf and dumb couple and children homeless and badly disfigured. They need food, shelter, water, clothing, health and education support. The children are at risk of diseases, pneumonia, hunger and attacks for not having a safe place
The project will build a three-bedroom house, water, food items, education support for the five children of the Uzor and introduce income-earning skills to the deaf and dumb couple to cushion impact and build resilience.
The project will provide a safety plan for a household of 7 by ensuring permanent accommodation, make water supply available to over 50 neighbouring households, reduce hunger and poverty through income skills for the general well-being of the family and community
