This project will provide food/non food items distributions and other forms of emergency relief for displaced communities in Myanmar's flood-hit Rakhine, Magway, Sagaing, Mandalay, and Chin states.
Starting on the 16th of July 2015, massive flooding across nearly 12 of Myanmar's 14 states have taken the lives of over 100 people and affected over 1 million. The destruction is very extensive, creating both short-term immediate needs such as food, water, and shelter, as well as long-term fears of epidemics, loss of livelihood, and the widespread disruption of education.
IsraAID will send an emergency relief team to provide short and assess long-term needs. The first activities will be to provide direct assistance in the form of food and non-food item distributions for impoverished and displaced families. At the same time, to maximize resources, the team will coordinate with other national and international actors to respond to specific needs as they arise. Long-term needs will be considered, based on the developing situation and IsraAID's established expertise
The short-term provision of emergency supplies will lead directly to the survival of the population in question, while the provision of other forms of relief, such as hygiene kits, water filtration, and mental health and psychsosocial services will assist in the recovery of long-term stability and wellbeing.
