Food Baskets for Displaced Families

Saeed Relief and Development (SAED) continued the second phase of its food basket distribution project across several underserved areas in Syria, where thousands of families live in extreme poverty and struggle daily to secure enough food. With unemployment rising and prices reaching historic highs, simply obtaining food has become an overwhelming challenge.

This phase focused on rural villages and informal camps lacking even the most basic necessities. SAED teams distributed 1,000 food baskets to the most vulnerable families—widows, orphans, the elderly, and displaced households. Each basket contained essential items sufficient for nearly a month.

The distribution was more than just the delivery of supplies; it was a deeply emotional encounter. The team met families who had not eaten a proper meal for days, and children waiting anxiously for anything that might ease their hunger. For many, this project represented a lifeline amid overwhelming hardship.

More than 5,200 individuals benefited from this round of distributions, gaining temporary relief from the daily struggle for food. Yet thousands more continue to wait silently for assistance.

SAED emphasizes that sustaining such critical projects depends entirely on donor support. Each basket donated today saves a family from hunger and restores a small but meaningful spark of hope in their difficult journey.

Last week, Saeed Relief and Development (SAED) carried out a vital humanitarian intervention by distributing food baskets to the most vulnerable families in northern Syria, where living conditions continue to deteriorate rapidly. With soaring food prices and thousands of families losing their sources of income, many households are now unable to secure even their simplest daily meals.

The distributed baskets included essential items sufficient for two to four weeks—rice, bulgur, sugar, oil, lentils, beans, flour, and canned goods. SAED’s field team carefully selected the most vulnerable families to ensure assistance reached those in greatest need.

Throughout the distribution, the team witnessed heartbreaking scenes. Mothers expressed fear of facing the coming days without food for their children, while elderly beneficiaries thanked everyone who helped deliver these baskets, saying they restored a sense of safety and dignity.

More than 4,500 individuals benefited from this project, yet the overall need remains far greater. Every food basket provided today gives one family a chance to survive, to endure, and to face their reality with a little more hope.
