Whenever a new person visits Dumbrava, they enter the yard with a heavy heart, thinking that Dumbrava is just another shelter where they will see dogs and cats, sad, in their cage. And they get a surprise, they see happy animals, some sociable, some not as much, but all playing, interacting with us or each other, being glad to see people (even the ones that don't get close), which is what we want. Still, it also makes them less "adoptable" because they are not as sad as the ones from public shelters.
We have just a few animals on treatment right now:
- Felix, a cat that had a surgery to remove his teeth and needs treatment, + he needs to eat wet food
- Didi, a kitten that has a fungal infection
- Mara, a dog whose eye does not produce tears, so we need to add fake ones every day
- Gipsy, a dog with arthritis, needs daily treatment for mobility and pain
- Duke, one of our puppies that had hepatitis, needs liver protection supplements.
