Provide Foster Families in Brazil

The Instituto Fazendo História has just hosted  the  39th child by its Foster Family Service , providing family and community life for babies and young children who are temporarily separated from their families of origin. It is a transitional period that involves a lot of care, protection, affection and investment: for both children and their families. With skilled technical work and well-trained foster  families, we can transform and resignify many stories of disruption and violation of rights.

Following is the testimony of a foster family, who went through their third host:

“The child plays, grows and develops quietly while the tree fulfills its protective role. We, the host  families of the Making History Institute, are like the leaves of the tree ... Dear donor,

Being a foster family is affection, support, it is a community experience of care. Much more than taking care of one child, it is a political act. Families taking care of each other, helping each other when they most need it!

Our Foster Care service provides home for children under 6 years old, in São Paulo - Brazil. Since 2016 we have fostered 36 children and have currently 14 active foster families. 

In Brazil, most children in alternative care still goes to institutions, unfortunately Brazilians are not used to the foster family service. And over these years, it has been our goal to disseminate this form of care, as we know that every child needs a loving home and stability.
