This project ensures free accommodation for families with children affected by cancer and other severe diagnoses in wartime Ukraine. The recently opened Dacha Family House can host up to 15 families simultaneously, offering them a comfortable place to stay close to the hospital. There are currently no similar houses in Ukraine. As cancer treatment often spans several months, families dealing with their children's illnesses need a stable and secure living environment to care for their kids.
Many children with cancer and other serious diseases have lost their homes due to the ongoing war. They are unable to stay in refugee shelters due to their compromised immune systems. Being without a home during an extended treatment period is also psychologically challenging, impacting treatment outcomes and family relationships. Children who spend a lot of time in hospitals and undergo painful treatments find solace in having a safe place, where they can snuggle with their parents.
The Family House Dacha, inaugurated on October 31, 2023, offers free accommodation for families with children undergoing treatment in Ukraine. Specially designed with 13 rooms for these families, including spaces for rehabilitation, psychological support, a soundproof room, two playrooms, libraries, recreational areas, and wheelchair-accessible rooms, Dacha is a home away from home. It is also a comprehensive support complex aiding families in overcoming the challenges of the disease.
Zaporuka Foundation provides free accommodation for at least 100 families annually, creating a comfortable and familiar atmosphere for sick children and keeping families together, which contributes to their recovery. Separation in the hospital can lead to strained relationships or even divorce for parents, while siblings may feel neglected without sufficient attention from their parents.
