Dear friends,
Thank you for your support in helping Ukrainian children in need of free accommodation during their treatment.
Your contributions make it possible for us to assist families with seriously ill children who have lost their homes due to the Russia’s war and are now living in Lviv Oblast as IDPs. Little Bohdan, the boy featured in our previous reports, unfortunately, has experienced a recurrence of cancer. He needs to travel regularly to Lviv for radiotherapy. His parents have created a comforting story for him, likening the medical procedure to entering a spaceship ready for launch. It makes everything less scary for him.
After each therapy session, they return to their new home in the village, made safer by Bohdan’s uncle, who generously provided his car for transportation, which is especially important given the boy’s compromised immune system. Bohdan’s parents anxiously follow developments in southern Ukraine, particularly around their hometown, the occupied Melitopol, holding onto hope that they will soon be able to return home once the treatment is completed.
In Kyiv, the Dacha house is currently being prepared for its grand opening, scheduled for October 31st. Dozens of families who bring their children to Kyiv for treatment are eagerly anticipating the launch of this new home, and their doctors are also inquiring about its progress. Unfortunately, we are now facing a new reality. Despite Kyiv having one of the best air defense systems in Europe, the potential for large-scale attacks from Russia poses a serious threat to future Dacha residents. As part of our preparations, we are setting up a bomb shelter where families can seek refuge in the event of any danger. We are dedicated to ensuring that the house is safe and ready to welcome its guests.
Thank you for being there for kids in wartime Ukraine!
